Oregon sunstones are famous for their “schiller” effect, which is caused by tiny copper inclusions which, when oriented properly, shimmer like the bottom of a copper pan. This particular stone was faceted in our shop, and the cutters faceted this stone to allow for a play of light off the back facets, giving this gemstone scintillation that you wouldn’t normally expect in a sunstone. This scintillation is apparent in the video, while the schiller is visible in the picture. Overall, this is a very nice stone and can be oriented to take advantage of either the schiller or scintillation.
