What we thought was a typical Oregon sunstone with light schiller turned out to be unique. This particular stone displays a delicate, but very noticeable, color shift from pink to light pink to pinkish-orange, depending on the light source. The amount of schiller also varies with the light source. The schiller in this stone is caused by tiny copper inclusions. These copper inclusions in this stone form a snowflake pattern. Due to sunstone’s hardness (approx. 6.5), we recommend setting this stone in a pendant or brooch.
